W. Lance Martin
Lance obtained his PhD in Biochemistry and Macromolecular Biophysics from Caltech. Together with Pamela Bjorkman, Lance solved the crystal structure of the neonatal Fc Receptor (FcRn) in complex with a heterodimeric form of the Fc portion of an antibody (hdFc) and characterized the pH dependence, stoichiometries, and affinities of the biologically relevant FcRn:Fc complexes by surface plasmon resonance. For his postdoc Lance joined the lab of Pehr Harbury in the Biochemistry Department of the Stanford University School of Medicine. With Pehr, Lance worked on the development of chemical crosslinking reagents and reagents and protocols for modified peptide isolation from complex mixtures. Lance continued to develop methods for characterizing chemically modified proteins by LCMSMS in contract research.
